Derek has 25 years leadership experience as a private sector Executive Director, public sector Non-Executive Director and international, multi-sector Leadership Development Consultant.
Derek’s expertise ranges from executive coaching, mentoring and personal skills training through to large group facilitation, leadership assessment & development centres and organisation-wide culture change programmes.
Prior to becoming a Leadership Development Consultant, Derek spent over 20 years in Global Financial Services, holding senior and executive management positions in a variety of areas. Notably, Derek was, for six years, a member of the Global Executive Leadership team and Director of an award-winning Customer Service Operation where he led 500 employees.
Derek also served as a Non-Executive Director of a multi-million turnover public sector Charitable Trust for 5 years, including 2 years as Chairman. He also chaired the Trust’s Remuneration Committee and served on the Finance and Audit Committees.
Derek’s recent and current clients include Barclays, BlackRock, BP, Deutsche Post DHL, Heineken, Johnson & Johnson, Marks & Spencer, Mazda Motors Europe, National Australia Group, RBS, Standard Life, the Scottish Government and the University of the West of England.
Derek is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds a post-graduate Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring, along with accreditations in various assessment tools and instruments.
Derek lives near Edinburgh with his wife and two daughters.
